in which michelle muses about myers-briggs types

So, there are, like, a million videos on YouTube about people's types. Well, maybe not a million. But a lot. Especially (based on my totally unreliable and probably biased search parameters) INFJs. Which I am. Or was. Or something. Anyhow... just watch the video.

video status updates in which i have a migraine, insomnia, or rushaholism.

So I still had a migraine but I still hadn't eaten or gone back to bed. This is me making myself some supper. And yes, I realize those are celery sticks, not carrots. I blame the migraine.

Before I went to bed I wanted to do a couple of quick home improvement projects with materials I'd bought earlier in the day. I know. My priorities do seem to be a little out of whack.

I swear, this was going to be my last vlog of the day. Maybe. Probably. I was having trouble uploading the videos directly from my phone, so maybe that should have been a sign I needed to stop and actually take care of my head.

And I don't hate having cats. Just sometimes. Just when they're in my face. Literally.

So, five hours after I posted my first video of the day (in which I said I had a migraine and was going to make it an early night), I finally finished my "home improvement" projects, and headed to bed. I really did have a migraine. Really.

(And 3M should totally pay me for this free advertisement of their awesome product. Just saying.)

Awake in the middle of the night, I share some totally useless trivia about my cats.

So I was totally rushed this morning because I slept in. And I slept in because I was awake so long in the middle of night. Also: Napping all afternoon with a migraine.

Does anybody know if they still make that Algemarin bath stuff? I loved that stuff when I was a teenager.

So I shot this video around 6:30PM, right before I headed over to my parents' house to watch House. Thank goodness for neighbours' grandchildren who make lots of noise.

emelgy video status update 20091122 #2

Whoo-hoo! My first actual video upload from my phone to YouTube. That's all.

(Also: Sorry for the kind of random stuff right at the end - I thought the recorder was already turned off.)

emelgy video status update 20091122 #1

My first "direct to YouTube" video. A status update. I had a migraine. I am lying on my side, on my bed. I really wanted it to be under one minute. Fail.

When I originally taped it, I thought I would do something with it in Windows Movie Maker before uploading. Then I got the bright idea of sending it straight to YouTube from my phone. After I had already uploaded the video to my computer and erased the video from my BlackBerry's media card. Also fail.

Then I also noticed I got the date wrong in my video. Brain fail.

So this isn't really a true mobile upload. Nor is it under one minute. Nor is it November 23. But otherwise: A status update. By me.

my second youtube video

So I uploaded my second YouTube video tonight. One of these times I'll actually upload a video worth watching. At least this one is slightly more humorous (that is, if you didn't find an entire video of my head humorous, last time).

I really wanted to do a voice-over narration on top of a music track, but couldn't figure out how to do it. (Read: I don't think you can do it. At least, not with Windows Movie Maker.) (Read: It might be worth investing in some real video editing software one of these days.)

This was fun, though. My mind can't stop dreaming up new ideas for these videos. Too bad they take so long to make...

'tis the season for raynaud's disease

I have this thing called Raynaud's Disease that makes my fingers and toes turn yellow in the cold. Had my first major attack of the season today, walking to my car after work (a 15-minute jaunt in the crisp fall air). Here's a picture of my left hand after I got home. The hand is wet because I was warming it under some lukewarm running water before I got the brilliant idea to photograph it.

Basically, whatever controls the constriction of blood vessels to my hands and feet is @$&)ed up. The pallor seen in three of my fingers is where the vessels have constricted so much that blood is no longer getting through. Nice. Hurts like hell, too. Just saying.

I have to be careful to bundle up most of the time, or else winter becomes my own private hell. Summertime in the freezer aisle of the grocery store is not so lovely, either.

(I have since chewed off that hangnail on my ring finger, making a bloody mess, BTW. Also nice. Sorry.)

my first youtube upload

So I've just created and uploaded my first ever YouTube video. Somehow I expected the occasion to feel more momentous.

I've been meaning to spend some time fooling around in Windows Movie Maker, because I want to make some videos of my recipes and eco-friendly cleaning tips. Also: Make some videos for the Karen Schuessler Singers.

Tonight I shot some self-portraits (just goofing around with my camera), and when I uploaded them to my computer I thought the entire sequence might make a good video. Reason enough to start experimenting, I guess.

So this is the video. It's not great. Also: Seems kind of self-indulgent. But I learned a lot, and expect that my next, real (read: serious) videos will be better...

(The song, BTW, is Anne Sophie von Otter singing Take It With Me from her album For the Stars (with Elvis Costello). It was written by Tom Waits. I didn't have anything particular in mind when I put it with the self-portraits - it was just the first thing I came across when I tried to figure out which MP3s I already had on my hard drive might go well with this video.)

Added later (20091115Su): Okay, it's feeling more momentous now. Yesterday morning I watched the video a million (-ish) times. You have to understand that, because I don't own a television, YouTube has been my primary source of evening entertainment for, like, three years. And now *I'm* on YouTube. My mind is boggling. Srsly.

I need some much better content, though. Fast.

Also: That song. It truly is one of my favorite songs, and I had a girl-crush on the singer, Anne Sophie von Otter (an opera singer), for the longest time. Her voice is so amazing. Some people watching the video for the first time actually thought the singing was mine. I'm flattered, but *srsly* dudes - I have never come even *close* to being that good.
